A song that touches the heart

She takes refuge in songs and music and they keep her grounded

When the pandemic started, I was actually quite okay with it. I was fine just sitting it out at home. I didn’t realise how long this would last, how much I would miss my friends, how much I would miss going out, miss eating at restaurants with my family.

As the lockdown carried on, I started thinking about the big toll this pandemic was taking on everyone's mental health, whether they were my age or not. That’s when I wrote ‘Some Hope’ - it just talks about how when you’re at home and you're feeling alone, you say things that you never thought you would ever say, or think about things that you never thought you would think about, whether it’s about your future or your career and all those things that put you in a very negative space.

My parents were very supportive about it. My father had to film the music video because, of course, we were stuck at home. So, he pulled out his camera and filmed it. The final product was pretty emotional because we put in a lot of footage of how other countries were also dealing with this virus. While I really enjoyed the entire process, I would say that the pandemic has taken a toll on my mental health.

I am absolutely fine now but initially it was not that pretty; writing songs and music was how I coped and I am still coping with it. Music will always be something that just keeps me very grounded. And when I’m sad or angry or just feeling a little blue, music just puts me in a better space. My friends were very supportive of this song. Everyone who heard it really liked it and that makes me really happy. So, I hope ‘Some Hope’ touches a lot of hearts and puts a lot of smiles on everyone's faces.
